Milestones

My mom IM’ed me for the first time recently. I had showed her how to do it via GMail awhile ago, but it just hadn’t happened. Then, the next day or two after, we had our first video chat. It was kind of weird, like when my dad found Youtube.

Dancing

I danced with our nephew, Carter, today. We danced to Running Away by The Temptations. It’s important for children to grow up without being self-conscious about dancing or singing. They are both natural forms of expression and, without them, a human being is incomplete. I try telling my wife, but she still refuses to dance […]

Spring Break

Lisa and I are on Spring Break this week. What does that mean? Well, firstly, we have a break from classes which means five fewer hours spent at Temple’s Fort Washington campus. Secondly, we have five more hours to spend as we choose. Lisa chose to spend the larger part of those hours with our […]

Nephew

Our nephew came today to spend the week. He’s a well-behaved baby of almost a year. I made him cry twice by scolding him. He insists on stuffing things into his mouth. I’m not sure I would mind if I were his parent, but since they mind, I am trying to prevent such behavior. I […]

Scope Creep

At work, I am fighting intense scope creep on nearly all fronts! It is tough to decide when to say no, especially when you have been encouraged to focus more on customer satisfaction than strict procedure. I have been known to fall into similar patterns in personal projects. They tend to get bloated in totally […]

Fixed Income Midterm

I have a fixed income midterm coming up. This is the first time since I started graduate school that I feel I could be in trouble for a test. This weekend will be a study-marathon! Tomorrow we’re going to spend all day in Panera, milking the free internet, atmosphere, and free coffee refills!

Carter’s 1yr Birthday

For our nephew’s 1 year birthday celebration, I worked on an image that would emulate a famous baby-food maker’s logo. We printed the image onto a mug using CafePress, a popular custom vendor, which will print your images on just about anything. Here are the results:

Writing About Work

I never write in specific terms about work, out of a concern that my words will somehow their way to the eyes of my bosses and my bosses’ bosses. It’s not so much that I fear retribution for an off-color remark. It’s more that I want my thoughts, set down here, to be the province […]

MBA Fall Update

School has been going well for us both. I am finding the MBA program at Temple informative and valuable, although I am growing weary of group work. I am simply not used to relying on others to complete assignments, but this experience will be valuable in my career as teamwork becomes more prevalent at work. […]
